Heart Disease in America


Heart disease continues to be the number one most likely cause of death for men and women in the United States. Unfortunately, this reality has long been the history of heart disease in America. In fact, from 1901 to 1920, heart disease rotated in the top three leading causes of death in the U.S. (along with pneumonia, influenza, and tuberculosis), and every year since 1921, heart disease has firmly retained its position as the number one killer of Americans.[1,2] That’s almost 100 consecutive years as the leading cause of death.
